De acordo com o portal Defensa Central, o futuro de Marcelo é incerto no Real Madrid e ele deve deixar o clube. Seu contrato com os merengues possui duração até junho de 2022 e assim, a partir de janeiro já pode assinar um pré-contrato com qualquer outra equipe.
Ronaldo Fenômeno e Marcelo possuem uma amizade de longa data e isso pode ser um facilitador para que o lateral-esquerdo retorno ao Brasil após 15 anos.
